The Town of Peace River held a Recreational Needs Assessment lastnight in Peace River.   Steve Slawuta, from Edmonton’s RC Strategies, facilitated the evening. Slawuta says attendees were able to engage in very useful discussion while sharing ideas for recreation in the area.
Some of the ideas ranging from new arenas, maintenance of older facilities, and partnerships for future projects.  Mayor Tom Tarpey was impressed with the turnout, saying the feedback was positive, and included the region, not just Peace River. According to Tarpey, officials were able to identify strengths and weaknesses of the current facilities, and the council will address the ideas at future council meetings.
A recreational survey will be distributed to the community next month. The information from lastnight’s assessment, and the survey, will be used to help make decisions on the maintenance or building of our leisure facilities.
