Alberta Environment and Parks has lifted the river ice advisory for the Town of Peace River.

According to the provincial river reporting system, satellite images taken 38 kilometres downstream from the Highway 2 Bridge showed an ice from the Peace River on Monday afternoon.

The bulletin goes on to say that the ice cover around the Town of Peace River broke up thanks to warmer weather and made its way downstream on Friday.

Snow melting in the Smoky Basin has caused levels to rise there.

Ice runs from the Smoky River make their way through the Town of Peace River.

This could cause a one-metre rise in water levels but no issues are expected.

Alberta Environment and Parks adds it will continue to keep an eye on the Smoky Basin.
