Shell’s Carmon Creek Update

Many parts of the Peace Country are feeling the effects of falling oil prices.  Shell Canada discussed their upcoming Carmon Creek project at the latest Peace River & District Chamber of Commerce meeting, which was held yesterday at the Sawridge Inn & Suites.  Shell Operations Manager Bob Blachford says the project shouldn’t be affected, saying the drop in oil prices also create opportunities by opening up the supply stream, which can make the situation a positive for the project.  He adds there could be lots of labour to choose from because of the lower oil prices.  Blachford says Carmon Creek is designed to deliver energy to the Alberta Energy framework and to the people of Alberta for about 35 years or more.  He believes they will be dealing with multiple gains and declines throughout the duration of the project.
