Spirit River’s Dayle Ross has begun her college hockey career.

She plays for the women’s team at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota and says she put in a lot of work in the off-season to get prepared.

“I knew it was going to be tougher going to play collegiate hockey. I trained pretty hard and tried to make my days pretty strenuous to make going to college a little easier. I would work out about twice a day and be on ice about once a day, so pretty busy days which made it easier in the long run to come to college.”

Ross says she’s been able to balance both school work and hockey.

“Every day is a different day and some days are harder than others but I just take it one day at a time and see what I have due the next day and I just do it that night. Hockey is kind of a break from school so I think that’s good for me. It’s not too stressful because I get that little break with hockey and school kinda gives me a break from hockey so I think it balances itself pretty well.”
