Spirit River’s Nolan Yaremko has his hockey career back underway.

Yaremko goes to Mount Royal University in Calgary and says it’s good to be back playing games again after many university sports were unable to happen last season.

“It was kind of a long haul there without having any games but we got some good practice in last year. Our team looks a lot different from the last time we were on the ice two years ago, but it’s been awesome here just to play some games and be with the guys and get on the ice.”

Yaremko says he had some big influences on his career growing up.

“My older brother, we’re two years apart so I got to play with him sometimes, about once every couple of years. Also, the Spirit River Rangers, growing up it felt like they were in the NHL when you’re a little kid. Just seeing some older players playing it was a good community for it. I had a lot of friends that played, we really got into it together.”
