A college hockey player from Spirit River says while she’s been able to play some games this season, the pandemic is still affecting things on and off the ice for her.

Tianna Yaremko plays on the women’s team at the University of Alberta, and says she’s had to adjust to some games getting cancelled and more online learning.

“I normally set some time aside to make sure that I do my homework and that I’m actually studying because with online I know it gets hard because you don’t really leave your house. Having a schedule always helps me at least. We’re actually able to get in some games but just in the second half quite a few have been cancelled already. We’re just hoping that COVID leaves us alone.”

As for her school work, Yaremko says that she’s studying in the education faculty.

“I really like what I’m learning and I would just say that I love kids, I always have and I’ve always envied teachers. It’s not an easy job but hours are pretty good and summer off are always a big factor.”
