Our Subway Athlete of the Month for April is Paige Massier.
She’s on the Senior Girls Basketball team at Glenmary School in Peace River. The team recently went to provincials and finished in fourth place. They got their after winning zones where Massier was the tournament MVP.
She says the team got better after a slow start to the season.
“We placed in every tournament we went to with either a gold or a silver, with one bronze too. Going into zones, we beat La Crete which is usually our biggest rival. Beating them to go to provincials was an amazing experience.”
When it comes to working with her teammates, Massier says this is the “closest team that I’ve had.”
“Just knowing that you have all of your teammates like each other and get along really helps on and off the court. When you’re off the court you’re always together and when you have everyone who gets along, it makes the trip a lot easier.”
