- The Emergency Department at the Fairview Health Complex is having troubles getting Doctor coverage on multiple occasions in October.
The Docs weren’t there yesterday, and won’t be on Wednesday, Friday, next Monday next Thursday and Next Friday. - Council of the MD of Peace has passed a motion to support the County of Northern Lights in the application for the Alberta Community Partnership grant.
The grant funds activities undertaken by the Regional Energy Committee, to promote energy development, including nuclear development in the region. - Peace Country Co-op raised $2,000 during the day to the Girl Guide in Peace River.
Donations from the BBQ, and 10 cents from every litre of fuel purchased went to the program. - Effective today, Alberta is now tied for the lowest minimum wage in the country.
Saskatchewan has boosted its minimum wage to $15, tying it with Alberta for the lowest in the country. Alberta hasn’t seen an increase to its minimum wage since 2018. - Peace River is continuing at #3 in 9-a-side football, after a 45-0 win over High Prairie on Saturday.
Valleyview continues at #4 in 9-a-side football, after an 18-13 win over Whitecourt this past week.
High Prairie has their first home game of the season coming up this weekend. - MLB Playoffs… Wild card series start today… The Mets are in Milwaukee, Atlanta is in San Diego.
- NHL Pre-season tonight has Ottawa in Montreal. The regular season starts on Friday.
- Dikembe Mutombo, a Basketball Hall of Famer, one of the best defensive players in NBA history, died Monday from brain cancer. He was 58.
- MLB’s all time hits leader Pete Rose has passed away at the age of 83.
Despite his record of 4,256 hits, Rose isn’t in the Hall of Fame after he was banned by MLB in 1989 amidst accusations that he gambled on baseball games. - Rain today in Peace and Big Lakes, and cool temperatures for the next couple of days are forecasted in the Northwest.
