  1. The Trade War between the USA and the world, including Canada, has now begun.
    The imposing of tariffs, by President Donald Trump was implemented on Saturday, that includes a 25% tariff on imported goods, and a 10% levy on Energy Products.
  2. A lot of interuptions and inconveniences will be happening over the next 24-36 hours, as the winter blast sets in.
    Temperatures and wind chills are in the very dangerous catergory, as numbers could get into the -50’s tonight.
  3. Alberta Environment has issued an Ice Advisory for the Peace River, from Highway 986 to the town.
    Water levels are expected to fluctuate and ice cover is expected to be quite unstable.
  4. Peace Regional Police have a person under arrest, after a report of suspicious persons near Simon Lake, west of Cadotte Lake.
    Police located a stolen vehicle, and with the help of Police Dog Peyak, 21 year-old Chaos James Daryl Ghostkeeper of Cadotte Lake was found hiding in a trailer.
  5. High Prairie RCMP have a man in custody, after failing to stop at a Stop Sign.
    28 year-old Evan Anderson of High Prairie faces flight, possession of stolen property, and vehicle offenses.
  6. The Provincial Men’s Curling Championships are getting set to go Wednesday in Stettler. 12 teams are participating, including Daylen Vavrek of Sexsmith.
    The winner goes to the Brier next month in Kelowna BC.
  7. Playoff matchups are set in the NWJHL, which start this week.
    Dawson Creek plays Peace River, and Fairview plays FSJ, while Beaverlodge plays Grande Prairie and Sexsmith plays La Crete.
  8. In the NPHL, the playoffs also start this week. High Prarie plays Valleyview in a best-of-3, with the winner playing Manning.
    Also Fox Creek plays Falher, Grande Prairie plays Spirit River, and FSJ plays Dawson Creek.
  9. Just one game in the NHL tonight… Ottawa is in Nashville.
  10. The Super Bowl happens on Sunday in New Orleans. Philidelphia plays Kansas City.
    The Chiefs are looking for their third straight Super Bowl Championship, while the Eagles look for their second championship, and first since 2018.
  11. The skies are fabulous, but the temperatures are ridiculous in the Northwest for the next 24-26 hours.
    Extreme Cold Warnings are in effect with wind chills in the -30’s during the day, and in the -40’s, and even the -50’s at night.
    Digits will start to warm up slightly come the middle of the week.
