Town of High Level receives new Hydro Excavator

Repairs to underground utilities in High level will now become easier year round as the town received its new 2021 Rebel Hydro Excavator. The new truck is better suited to work during cold and harsh temperatures as the 13 year old truck the town currently uses can’t.

The Vactor sewer flusher and hydrovac truck the town has been using since 2007 was originally purposed to flush and clean the town’s wastewater system. Excavation work was also added to the truck’s abilities, eventually becoming the town’s main tool for repairing underground utilities. Issues arose with the truck however as it wasn’t designed for cold weather, this meant work during the winter months had to be contracted out at additional costs. The low number of units in the area made it difficult to secure a truck when it was needed. With that in mind, town council approved a plan to purchase the new replacement back in 2020.

The current truck won’t be put out of service quite yet as the town plans to update and service it for its original purpose of flushing and cleaning wastewater. Work crews are currently learning how to operate the new truck so they can properly use it when called upon.
