The Town of High Level wants to help seniors and people with mobility issues during a difficult time.

The town has set up a Seniors’ COVID-19 Assistance Line.

High Level’s Community Development Manager, Jena Clarke says the line was established to provide different types of support.

“If they are isolated, and they don’t have family in town, we can call them and just check up on them, see how they are doing, and see if they need any more information,” says Clarke in a media release.

“It’s just our way of reaching out and providing them with someone to talk to during this time.”

Residents in need can also call the line to get assistance with things like getting groceries and prescriptions.

“During this time, people feel really isolated,” states Clarke . “They can’t get out and socialize or visit friends and family. They’re being encouraged to stay in their home. And there are seniors in town who don’t have family here. They don’t have someone checking up on them, and they don’t have someone who can run out and pick up the things they need.”

To access the Seniors COVID-19 Assistance Line, you can call 780-821-4010. The service is available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on the weekends from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
