U.S. School is bringing back Paddling as Punishment

A school in Georgia has brought back paddling as a punishment.
Students could face up to three “licks” if they misbehave.

The punishment is given in the office.
Students are asked to kneel, and receive the blows to the buttocks with a wooden paddle.

The controversial discipline has been implemented in the Georgia School for Innovation and the Classics in Hephzibah, a town of just over 4000 people.

Parents must give consent to the form of punishment.  If they don’t, the student may face suspension instead.

The School’s Superintendent believes that paddling won’t be used often, and hopes that the threat of it will work as a deterrent.
