You’re going to be alright.

I’ve been pretty damn stressed this week. I think everyone has. For the past two weeks, things have been steadily getting more and more crazy out there. It honestly felt like scrolling through twitter was like drinking from the fire hydrant with the volume of news, information, and other updates blasting through to us. Can you believe it was just last Monday before things really picked up on this side of the ocean? Certainly a March to remember.

But you know what? It’s gonna be alright. That’s the conclusion I arrived at last night.

I was feeling pretty deep in the despair. But last night I decided to reach out to my friends from school. They’re both radio types as well.

We talked for a bit about nothing useful. What we were up to, what life was looking like for us these days, what we thought about it all. And I can’t say we came to any great conclusions or had any great revelations, but for me personally, it made me feel infinitely better. I guess all I was personally needing was a sounding board to bounce ideas off of. To let other people know that I was stressed and have it be acknowledged.

So if you’re feeling overwhelmed right now, try to take care of yourself first. I’m not saying talking to your friends will make you feel right as rain, but it worked for me, so it probably can’t hurt. There are a million resources out there to manage your own mental health.

It’s a crazy world out there. Things are going to get worse before they get better. And on the other side, things are going to be different. That’s just the world we live in now. But you know what? We’re going to be fine. Reach out to your neighbours, reach out to your friends, reach out to anyone. Talking to people, checking in on them, checking in on yourself, that’s how we’ll get there.
