  1. RCMP in Fox Lake are reporting a suspicious death from yesterday morning.
    The cops were called out to people causing a disturbance, and located an injured male. The man was transported to hospital, but died of his injuries.
  2. Peace Regional RCMP have located a missing and wanted man, that was on the books, since the Spring.
    38 year-old Gordon Robert Shpeley of Grimshaw was located on Friday, and he was presented a summons to appear in court.
  3. Authorities in Mackenzie County are warning the public about unauthorized activities at buildings around the Fort Vermilion Flood Plain.
    The County is reminding residents that these buildings are on private property, and unauthorized access is against the law.
  4. Nominations for AFSC’s Farmer’s Feed cease at the end of the day today. As well, nominations for businesses to register for the Peace River Job Fair are closed after today.
  5. Talks of potential separation in Alberta prompted the NDP opposition to begin a series of town hall events called “Better Together”. (Naheed Nenshi interview in separate story)
  6. The Fall season is fast approaching, which means some last chances to get some camping in before the winter.
    It also means that owners are thinking about winterizing their RV’s and campers before the snow starts flying. (Chad Krantz interview in separate story)
  7. High School Football takes to the field today. High Prairie is in Drayton Valley, with the kickoff at 4:30 at Frank Maddock School.
  8. The NWJHL has named their stars for Week 1 of the season.
    Goalie Tyler Peters of La Crete is the North/South Division winner, after posting a shutout over Beaverlodge on opening night.
    Xavier Burgher of Fort St. John is the East/west Division winner, after posting five goals in two games.
  9. In baseball, the Toronto Blue Jays conclude their series in Tampa Bay this afternoon. Chris Bassitt stats for the Jays against Shane Baz.
  10. A mix of sun and cloud is forecasted for this afternoon in the Northwest. Highs are in the low 20’s, except for 17 in the Big Lakes.
    Clouds will give way to possible frost tonight, as digits get down towards the freezing mark. Skies remain generally clear until well into next week.
