Update – October 15, 2025
At approximately 3:45 a.m. on Monday, October 13, the Peace River Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the old Belle Petroleum Centre building on 96 Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke emanating from the roof and visible flames through an open door on the west side.
An initial interior attack was attempted but was abandoned due to extreme heat and roof instability.
Firefighters then adopted defensive, directing hose streams into the structure from the exterior.
The fire spread through the ceiling in the south portion of the building and reached the entry vestibule on the east side.
Damage to the vestibule made it unsafe, leading to its removal to improve access for firefighting operations.
The building sustained extensive fire, smoke, heat, and water damage, and the roof remains unstable.
The building was vacant, and utilities had been disconnected.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Fire crews were on scene for approximately 11 hours.
No injuries were reported. Mutual aid was provided by the Weberville and St. Isidore fire departments. The Peace River Fire Department extends its thanks for their assistance.
