The family behind Dot-Lyn Sales and Service Autobody Shop is speaking out following the devastating fire that destroyed their long-standing business in Grimshaw.

In a statement on social media, the Dot-Lyn family expressed deep gratitude to first responders, volunteers, friends, and community members who came together in the immediate aftermath of the blaze.

“We are still processing the events of the recent fire at Dot-Lyn. Our hearts are full of gratitude,” the statement read. “We want to extend a massive thank you to the first responders, and volunteers and friends who showed up without hesitation to help us protect what we have built.”

Dot-Lyn has been a fixture in the Grimshaw area for more than 60 years and is a three-generation family business. The family said that while they have faced challenges before, they have never done so without the support of the community around them.
“As a three-generation family business of 60-plus years, we have weathered many storms, but we have never done it alone,” the statement continued. “To our dedicated staff, our loyal customers, and our dear friends — your messages of support and continued business mean the world to us right now.”

The family emphasized that the outpouring of encouragement has reaffirmed their commitment to continue forward despite the loss.

“You are the reason we’ve been here for three generations, and the reason we will keep going,” they said.
The message was signed by Mervin, Stephanie, Dylan, Blake, and the entire Dot-Lyn crew.

The fire broke out overnight on December 21, prompting emergency response and precautionary evacuations in nearby areas.
