Valleyview Town Council addressed several initiatives during its most recent organizational meeting on February 9, including the launch of live-streamed council meetings, the 2026 capital budget and long-term capital plan, and steps toward a potential regional fire service transition.
Council approved a new Live Streaming of Council Meetings Policy, with regular council meetings set to be broadcast live beginning March 9. The town says details on how residents can access the live streams will be shared on its Facebook page.
Council also approved the 2026 Capital Budget, totaling just over $2 million. The budget includes upgrades to flooring and parking lot repairs at Memorial Hall, repaving the southeast service road, and about $1.2 million allocated for water line repairs. Council also adopted the town’s 2027–2031 Capital Plan, a five-year blueprint that includes roughly $1 million per year to support ongoing water infrastructure repairs.
In addition, council discussed the future of fire services and directed administration to continue working with the MD of Greenview on a possible regional fire service model. The proposal under consideration would see administrative responsibility for the Valleyview Fire Department transition to the MD of Greenview as part of a regional approach.
