- Peace Regional Police are trying to piece together information, after a skidoo was found on a front lawn of a north-end residence last month.
Police believe this machine is related to one stolen from a business on 89th Street in town. - Peace River Town Council has directed Administration to use unallocated funds in this year’s Fiscal Framework budget to cover a shortfall of the Glenmary School Sidewalk Project.
The $125,000 deficit was made by an unsuccessful Grant money application, for the sidewalk connecting Glenmary to TA Norris School. - At a recent meeting, Grimshaw Town Council voted to extend hours of the Les Shaw Fitness Center.
Council also received an update from the Resource Center for Suicide Prevention, and has also accepted the termination of the Water Operator Agreement with the Village of Berwyn, effective mid-May. - High Level Town council is currently in discussions of a revised Fire Services Agreement with the Dene Tha First Nation.
Council has raised concerns, since there has been no agreement in place since 2022. - Some school divisions in the Northwest start Teacher’s Convention today, which means students are off until next week.
Authorities around the area are providing tips to parents for monitoring their kids with their on-line activity. - NWJHL has their finals set, and for the third year in a row, it’s FSJ and La Crete for the title. Schedules are expected later this week.
- NPHL playoffs has the night off tonight. They resume tomorrow in Dawson Creek with the Canucks and Spirit River tied 2-2. The winner meets Manning in the Final.
- Five games in the NHL tonight… Carolina is in Vancouver, Toronto is in New Jersey, Las Vegas is in Detroit, St. Louis is in Seattle, and the Islanders are in Anaheim.
- The snow continues off and on today in the Northwest. Highs are just above -10 in the South and -18 in the North. However, things clear off and warm up by this weekend.
