  1. McLennan RCMP are looking for information in a fatal collision last month on Hwy 49, just south of the Smoky River turnoff.
    Police say a pickup was overtaking a semi with lumber, but was on a collision course with a semi with petroleum.
  2. Red Earth Creek RCMP have 49 year-old Dick Andrew Noskiye of the Loon River First Nation in custody, after a home invasion on Tuesday morning.
  3. Big Lakes County has committed funds to infrastructure projects in High Prairie.
    Nearly $700,000 has been forwarded for support of a new Gas Supply Line, and the engineering of a water weir and reservoir expansion project.
  4. Rising operational costs are the reason the Big Lakes County Charity Golf Tournament is not proceeding in 2026.
    However, Council has equally divided funds in the business account to be distributed to the High Prairie Palliative Care Society, Mitaa Detox Centre, and J.B. Woods Continuing Care Centre.
  5. Facilities like the Ski Hills in the area are looking to take advantage of the kids being off during Teacher Convention this week.
    Ski Hill and Resorts have been flourishing with the expanded season, thanks to the extra snow.

  10. The Peace and Big Lakes will be clearing out this afternoon, as the digits start nudging zero this afternoon.
    The Mackenzie will be decent this afternoon, but snow starts falling again tonight and into tomorrow.
    The north also gets out of the deep freeze they had for the past few days, with highs around -10.
