New Music Thursday: February 27

new-music-thursday

It’s Thursday, which means that as always, it’s time for all the new music releases of the week to finish off February on a good note.

Lisa – Alter Ego

The K-pop Icon Lisa is releasing her debut solo album outside of her work with the group BLACKPINK. She’s also releasing a lightstick to go along with the physical release of the album, which is a pretty common thing when it comes to Korean pop artists. Some notable features on Alter Ego are Doja Cat, Tyla, Future, and Megan Thee Stallion.

Panda Bear – Sinister Grift

Sinister Grift is Panda Bear’s first solo album in 5 years. Panda Bear would be best known for his involvement with the group Animal Collective, a pop/rock group that hit it’s peak in popularity in the late 2000’s and early 2010’s. He has also worked with French electronic duo Daft Punk on their Grammy winning album Random Access Memories. This will be Panda Bear’s 7th solo project.

Aloe Blacc – Stand Together

Aloe Blacc’s first album of original music in 5 years combines music with community and unity, hence the name of the album. Every song on the album is paired with a philanthropic cause. Blacc has said that this album spans multiple different genres, but I reckon that it will mostly be Blacc’s usual R&B style.

Shygirl – Club Shy Room 2

Shygirl’s music has been described as a combination of dance, hip hop, and experimental pop, and that rings true for the singles from her upcoming sophomore album Club Shy Room 2. The 6 track project will have features from Sadboi, Saweetie, and PinkPantheress.

DARKSIDE – Nothing

Darkside is an electronic duo consisting of Nicholas Jaar and Dave Harrington, based out of Rhode Island. Fans have been reviewing the singles for their 3rd album Nothing quite positively, and have high hopes for it. This one will warrant a listen from me for sure.

Linkin Park – From Zero: A Cappellas + Instrumentals

Linkin Park is releasing new instrumental versions of their tracks from their 2024 album From Zero. The Acapellas for this album have already been released.

Solid list of new albums coming out tonight, with a couple that I am particularly excited for!
