  1. Activity on the rivers is continuing with the Spring Thaw, as Ice Jam watches and warnings are now in place.
    A watch is in place for the Peace River, from Garden River, east to Wood Buffalo Park, where minor impacts to roadways and low-lying areas have been reported.
    A warning is in place for the Lawrence River, east of John D’or Prairie, where floodwaters are impacting homes in the area.
  2. Standard Stage 1 water restrictions are in place in La Crete until the end of September.
    Mackenzie County states the measures increase distribution, save costs, and protects the environment.
  3. This morning was the final time to submit nominations for the vacant Council position in High Level.
    Noon was the deadline at the town office where packages can be dropped off. The position was made vacant after Jori Zatko resigned in February.
  4. Northern Sunrise County and Peace Regional Waste have teamed up to start Spring Clean-up in the area, from now until the long weekend.
    All fees for residents will be waived at the Landfill, but it is not intended for the commercial business sector.
    The Hours of Operation at the Landfill will not change during Clean-up.
  5. Some residents do, and some don’t have Emergency Kits ready at home, or the office, as voters are evenly split in preparedness.

  6. Premier Danielle Smith says her government will look at new legislation depending on what comes out of investigations into claims a separatist group breached the personal information of nearly three million Albertans.
    Smith made the comments on Friday as the provincial privacy watchdog called for broader reforms and election officials said legislative changes last year stopped it from acting sooner.
  7. A group of Alberta separatists gathering signatures to trigger a referendum on pulling the province out of Confederation is set to hand in its petition sheets today.
    Mitch Sylvestre, the head of Stay Free Alberta, says it plans to deliver the thousands of names to Elections Alberta’s head office in Edmonton.
    More than a month ago, Sylvestre said the group had already collected much more than the approximate 178,000 signatures required since it started in January.
  8. NHL playoffs tonight… Game 2 – Philidelphia is in Carolina, and Game 1 – Anaheim is in Las Vegas.
  9. The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game set in Tampa Bay tonight.
    Even though it is early in the season, The Jays are looking to gain some ground on the Rays in the AL East Division.
  10. A mix of Sun and Cloud is forecasted for the Northwest this afternoon. Highs are in the low teens, with lows tonight at, or just below zero.
    Skies remain clear for the balance of the week, with temps getting slightly warmer down the line.
