It was an eventful day at Mainstreet Mens Wear in Peace River today, after a vehicle crashed through one of the store windows around noon. Owner of Mainstreet Men’s Wear David Martin says the driver was pulling out of a parking spot while a vehicle was approaching from behind. The driver decided to come back into the parking spot, but overshot and went onto the sidewalk and through the window. No one was hurt in the crash.

“We heard a huge bang, a crashing of glass, and when we looked, there was a little car stuck in our window trying to back up,” Martin says.

Martin explains this isn’t the first time this happened to his store, about 15 years ago a driver reversed their car from the other side of the street and backed up right into his store. He adds about four other businesses on the street have had similar situations within the last few years.

Martin notes the window has been secured and cleaned up since the accident, but he says he hopes things don’t happen in threes.

“It was exciting at the time, but it’s all looked after and buttoned up and put to bed for the night,” He says. “I don’t have to sleep here tonight, so that’s good.”
