Peace Region R.C.M.P. hoping everyone has fun, and stays safe, on Halloween

It’s Halloween which means we will be seeing ghouls, goblins, ghosts, unicorns and much more in the streets tonight. R.C.M.P. stations want trick-or-treaters to have fun, while keeping safety in mind. Constable Mike Hibbs with the Spirit River detachment says candy seekers should be careful walking the streets. “I would suggest staying on one side of the street, and then crossing at the end and come back the other way. And of course always look both ways before crossing, especially on the smaller rural roads.” Hibbs also suggests to homeowners to have their homes well lit. “It will be dark for trick-or-treating so homeowners should have as many lights on as possible. I also suggest children have some sort of reflector on their costumes to be more visible to traffic.”

Constable Roxanne Noss of the Peace River detachment strongly recommends parents and children check their treats before eating anything. “Make sure the candy is still in its wrapper from the manufacturer; that is hasn’t been tampered with. Also keep an eye out for any loose candy. I also recommend checking anything that may be homemade.”
Both Hibbs and Noss are urging drivers to use extra caution on the roads during trick-or-treating, as there will be a lot more people walking the streets than usual.
