
On April 17th, Alberta Health Services confirmed 239 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 2,397.
Chief Medical Officer of Health, Doctor Deena Hinshaw says there was a power failure at the data centre, which caused a small electrical fire earlier this week, which caused some issues with reporting numbers.
No new deaths were announced but so far, 50 Albertans have now died from COVID-19.
In the North Zone, there are 135 cases of COVID-19 and seven people have passed away.
AHS is reporting that 1,124 people have recovered from the virus.
To help slow spread or ease fear of catching COVID-19, the government recommends washing one’s hands for at least 20 seconds, and to avoid touching the face.
