Central Peace-Notley MLA Todd Loewen is stressing the importance of supporting small businesses that have been impacted by the current restrictions.
Loewen says he’s seen several examples in his riding of business owners being resilient in working around the restrictions, most notably with restaurants having outdoor dining.
“In our small communities, we rely on our small businesses of all sorts. Restaurant owners are some of those business owners that help the community and they’re involved with local sports and fundraising for non-profit groups. It’s just so important to do what we can to keep these small businesses going and support them as much as possible.”
Even if there’s nothing you need from a particular business right now, Loewen says there’s still ways to support them.
“One thing I’ve done is back in January and even into March, I was trying to buy gift certificates if I didn’t feel like I needed the use of a business. I thought I’ll get a gift certificate because I know I’ll be able to use it down the road and at least help these small businesses through some of these tough times.”
Loewen is praising the resilience of some businesses working around the restrictions adding quote “I encourage them to do as much of that as they can.”
