Fairview Town Council held a regular meeting on Tuesday Evening.
Highlights of the meeting included the passing of a new 50/50 Airport Agreement with the MD of Fairview.
Stated in the contract: “The Town agrees to pay the MD an annual grant equal to 50% of the airport operational expenses less 50% of the airport operational revenues.
The budget and operations of the airport will be under the responsibility of the MD.
Council also changed the Sidewalk Maintenance Section of the Community Standards Bylaw.
The town is taking over responsibility of snow removal on residential sidewalks.
Those that own property in zones other than residential are responsible to remove snow and ice within 24 hours.
During Councillor Jeffrey Johnston’s report, he brought up the partnership between the Alberta Government and the Alberta Chamber of Commerce, to distribute rapid COVID-19 testing to businesses.
Local Chambers have to sign an agreement with Alberta Health to receive the rapid testing kits and a pre-approved screening plan.
Fairview Town Council will meet again on Tuesday, June 1st.
That’s when they start their summer schedule of only meeting on the first Tuesday of each month.
