Peace River-Westlock MP Arnold Viersen says there were some areas the Federal Government fell short in during the last session of Parliament.
Viersen says one of the biggest issues for Albertans at the federal level is getting oil and gas products to market and the Liberals haven’t done well there.
“We see just very recently with the Line 5 which is a pipeline that runs from Edmonton to Sarnia and it runs through Michigan, the governor of Michigan has revoked the license for that pipeline to operate and we’ve seen the Liberal government drag its feet in terms of getting legal action on that.”
There is some speculation of a federal election being called this summer.
We asked Viersen about that topic and he says quote “nobody knows except for the Prime Minister.”
“There’s one guy in this country that knows when the election and I’m not even sure that he has the date picked yet. I’m confident that he wants to go to the polls, it’s just a matter of whether he feels the time is right. The speculation that I’ve heard is anything from in two weeks from now to some people are saying it will be called August 8th, other people are saying August 12th.”
We talked with Viersen about the end of the Parliament session, you can hear the full conversation below.
