July 29, 2021 – Provincial Health Minister Tyler Shandro has been making his way around the province for in-person meetings since Covid-19 restrictions loosened up. Shandro visited the town of High Level on July 27 and met with Mayor Crystal McAteer and council. Peace River MLA Dan Williams was also present for the visit.
Discussion included plans for a new multi-purpose facility in town, efforts to improve broadband internet access and its effects on how northern communities participate in emerging technology in the health field and the friendship the town has with the Dene Tha First Nation and other regional First Nation communities.
Covid-19 was a topic brought up as well, with a perceived lack of vaccinations in the region and how reporting issues partially fall onto the provincial and federal government.
Mayor McAteer and council thanks the Health Minister for taking the time to visit and to come back anytime.
