The Alberta Government is putting money towards upgrading the Peavine Access Road.
They’re using the Strategic Transportation Infrastructure Program to invest $6.7 million into the 7.4 million dollar project.
It’s an exciting project for residents of the Peavine Metis Settlement, as many have been calling for this upgrade.
In a news release, Slave Lake MLA Pat Rehn stated, “Work on the Peavine Metis Settlement access road is something the people have been asking for. I want to thank (Transportation) Minister Sawhney for approving phases one and two.”
STIP funding is also being used in other Counties and MD’s across the region. It’s going to help with local transportation infrastructure such as, culvert replacements, gutter and drainage improvements, bridge assessments and replacements, and other maintenance. Minister of Transportation, Rajan Sawhney, says, “STIP funding will support rural and smaller urban municipalities with local transportation infrastructure. Now more than ever, strong infrastructure is vital to attracting investment, and this funding will help ensure they have the roads and bridges they need to grow sustainably, while also creating much-needed jobs.”
