Scary season is upon us!
Let’s embrace it by talking about the follow-up to a classic horror movie the exorcist. As far as I know, this is the next chapter of the franchise and there have been talks about making this a trilogy. Now I have not seen the first one and in my attempts to prep for this film I couldn’t find it anywhere, which was sad, but I still feel like I understood mostly what was going on.
We get introduced to a father who loses his pregnant wife during an incident and is left to raise his child alone. Fast forward 13 years and they are having the best life…until she wants to learn more about her mother. So, she meets with another girl from school and they head into the woods to perform a ritual. She disappears for 3 days and then reappears but not the same as when they left.
Yeah, going into the woods and performing a ritual…what could go wrong…everything… everything can go wrong. This was the most intriguing part of the movie. The mystery, the intrigue, the plot. Seeing what happened to the girls, where they went, and meeting the cast of characters. How they all fit in with each other and what roles they played. Admittedly since I haven’t seen the first one some characters or references might have gone right over my head but I thought it still explained things enough.
I don’t know if it necessarily was scary but that could just be my opinion. Overall I thought it was a fine horror movie. You can check out the trailer below although be warned that some people may find it disturbing.
