  1. Conseil Scolaire du Nord-Ouest says that crews are coming and will begin the demolition process today.
    CSNO obtained the school from PRSD in 2006 to accomodate new space for Ecole desd Quatre-Vents. The demolition is expected to last about a month.
  2. Peace River Town Council is meeting the public in a community Open House from 4-6 at the Museum, south of downtown.
    Refreshments and snacks, as well as networking and fellowship will be available. Everyone is welcome!
  3. The 2024 Peace Country Classic Ag. Show starts today at Evergreen Park in Grande Prairie.

  4. The Alberta government has announced $8 million in funding to support kids in sports, should the proposed Budget 2024 be passed.
    The money goes to the Every Kid Can Play program, with the goal of removing barriers, and making kids’ sports and rec. activities more accessible and affordable.
  5. Alberta’s government is investing a record amount of money in education over the next three years to tackle an enrollment boom that’s swept schools across the province.
    Education Minister Demetrios Nicolaides said $1.2 billion will go toward addressing rising enrolment in schools across the province.
  6. Alberta’s energy sector is set for a record year in production according to analysts, following the province’s best January ever.
    Crude oil is seeing increased production with 3.81 million barrels per day in January, following a record-setting year of 1.4 billion barrels of oil produced in 2023.
  7. The opening round playoff tournament starts today for the U-13 division of the Northern Alberta Hockey League.
    The U-13 Colts are playing Whitecourt, the two teams from Grande Prairie, and Fort McMurray, all at the Baytex Energy Center.

  9. Six Canadian teams hit the ice in the NHL tonight.

  10. Sunshine and warmer conditions are in store for Northwestern Alberta. Digits will be around zero degrees in the Peace and Big Lakes.
    The Mackenzie is still below freezing with a chance of flurries today and tomorrow.
