  1. A serious crash on Highway 49 north of Valleyview affected traffic in the area for several hours on Saturday morning.
    RCMP officers from multiple detachments attended the crash. The southbound lane of the highway was closed for several hours.
  2. Slave Lake RCMP have a person in custody on mischeif charges.
    Surveillance was obtained, descriptions were given, and a video on social media led to the arrest of 26 year-old Nevada Avery Houle of Slave Lake.
  3. In Peace River, A notice of motion is being brought forward by Councillor Orren Ford to bring the Apex Security business proposal to the table.
    In High Level, a delegation from the High Level RCMP will be presented.
  4. Planned Power Outages are happening all over the Northwest this week. The Harmon Valley area have an outage scheduled for 10:30am-2:30pm today.
    The Town of Rainbow Lake has an outage on Tuesday from 2-4pm. The settlement of Chateh will have an outage on Thursday from 3:30-5pm.
  5. Disruptions are continuing at Fairview Health Complex Emergency Department.
    They won’t have a doctor on site today, which continues a recurring theme from the past several months.
  6. The Province of Alberta is awarding eight people the Alberta Order of Excellence later this year.
    One person is Kim Ruether in Fairview. The award is the province’s highest honour that a citizen can receive.
  7. Shannon Phillips, the MLA for Lethbridge-West, is stepping down on Monday.
  8. Wheatbelt Baseball League tonight… Peace River is in Manning, and High Prairie is in Rycroft.
  9. Stanley Cup Final tonight… Game 2 Edmonton is in Florida, the Panthers took the opening game.
  10. The Toronto Blue Jays begin a three-game set in Milwaukee tonight. Jose Berrios starts for the Jays against Colin Rea.
  11. A slight chance of showers is forecasted for this week in the Northwest. Temps are in the mid teens to low 20’s, with lows around 10 at night.
    The only break this week seems to be Friday with sunny skies in store.
