Some cooler temperatures on the weekend helped firefighter in containing the blaze near Garden River, but things are expected to get hot again this week.

The most recent assesment of the Semo Complex fire has it at more than 44,000 hectares in size, and it is still approximately 8 kilometres from highway 58- and 30-kilometres northwest of Garden River.

Over 160 firefighters and support staff, ten helicopters and 38 pieces of heavy equipment are on the scene with some personal and aircraft coming from other provinces and the US.

Both the High Level and Peace River forest areas have the fire danger at “very high”, with several fires right now labeled as “out of control.”
