  1. The Air Quality has improved in some parts of the Peace Region, but Air quality Advisories are still in effect for the Northwest.
    The smoke has settled in because of fires in and around the BC and Alberta Peace, and maybe a little bit from Jasper.
  2. A Boil Water Advisory is in Place in Donnelly. The Advisory is because of planned maintenance work with the water system.
    Meanwhile, the Boil Water is continuing for the hamlet of Kinuso and surrounding areas in Big Lakes County. The Advisory was issued last week.
  3. The Board N Barrel restaurant in Peace River is a feature restaurant for Alberta on the Plate, a pallet that features local ingredients.

  4. Wally Amos, the charismatic founder of Famous Amos cookies, has died at age 88, according to reports.
    The New York Times reported Amos died Tuesday in his home in Honolulu, and his children told the outlet the cause was complications of dementia.
  5. Former Conservative MP and cabinet minister Chuck Strahl has died at the age of 67.
    Strahl was first elected in 1993 and represented the B.C. riding of Chilliwack–Fraser Canyon until his retirement in 2011.
  6. The Fairview Flyers are continuing to prepare for Training Camp. The Flyers have added Dustin Whitehead as an Assistant Coach.
    White played minor hockey in Peace River, played for the Navigators, and hails from Lubicon Lake.
  7. The Toronto Blue Jays are packing up a three-game sweep from Anaheim, and flying today before starting a three-game weekend set at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
    All three games are afternoon games in the series.
  8. A new chapter in Edmonton football opened Thursday, as Larry Thompson was announced as the new owner of the Edmonton Elks Football Club.
    Thompson becomes the first private owner in Club history. The Green and Gold had been community-owned since the Club’s founding in 1949.
  9. A mix of Sun and cloud with a slight chance of showers is in the forecast, with highs around 21 this afternoon.
    The wet weekend starts tonight in the Big Lakes as they get 10mm worth. Lows will be around 10 degrees.
    Spotty showers are forecasted throughout the weekend in the Northwest, with the temperatures continuing to go down until at least Saturday.
