- Alberta Wildfire is updating the fire situation in Northern Alberta. The largest fire in the Semo Complex fire is now listed at Being Held.
The fire, at just under 107,000 hectares was near John D’or Prairie and Fox Lake. - Berwyn Council has approved their Nurse Practitioner policy, which features the eligibility criteria, application process, and recruitment incentives to bring them to the area.
Council has approved the increase of the ATCO Franchise fee from 6% to 8%, in alignment of other Villages in the province.
Council has also appointed Jatin Saini as acting CAO. They replace Matthew Norburn, who transitions to become CAO of the town of Hanna. - Peace River Town Council had discussions at last night’s meeting. Among the topics were Spring and Fall Cleanup trends and the one-month update for Apex Security.
Apex has begun to identify problem area, including preferred dumpsters for diving, favored locations routinely trespassed for shelter, and regular loitering or hide-out spots.
Also, the locating, mapping and removal of encampments, as well as follow-up monitoring, that has resulted in several fully dismantled spots. - Alberta’s doctors are calling a provincial shortage of general internal medicine physicians an acute-care crisis and are asking the government for immediate help.
Dr. Paul Parks, president of the Alberta Medical Association, says there’s an “escalating crisis”, comparing it to “an aneurysm that just keeps growing and it’s getting ready to burst.” - Premier Danielle Smith revealed the next phases of her government’s restructuring of health care in Alberta.
That includes plans to remove AHS as the operator of some hospitals and turn facilities over to other operators like Catholic health care provider Covenant Health. - A search committee has been struck to look for a new head of the Alberta Energy Regulator.
The group’s current president, Laurie Pushor, announced he wouldn’t seek a new contract after his current term expires next April.
Pushor has been head of the regulatory body since 2020. - Sidney Raymond Eudy, a pro wrestler known as Sid Vicious and Psycho Sid, has died. He was 63.

- Rain is the order of the day today in the Northwest, with a chance of a storm thrown in. Highs this afternoon are around 20 with lows tonight around at, or just below 10.
