  1. The annual Northern HEAT Conference and Trade Show is underway in Peace River.
    The event runs until the end of tomorrow at the Fire Training Center and Chateau Nova. (Tim Harris Interview on App)
  2. Many jurisdictions in the area are planning to meet with Provincial Ministers concerning projects in the region.
    One meeting that has been planned is the MD of Peace meeting with Transportation Minister Devin Dreeshen.
    Topics being discussed include the slide on Bricks Hill, and the completion of Highway 986.
  3. The annual Harvest Moon Festival happens tomorrow night in Grimshaw, with events, local performers, and markets, among other happenings during the gathering.

  4. Premier Danielle Smith says if Ottawa comes back this fall with a lowball estimate on Alberta’s share of the CPP, hard questions will have to be asked on next steps.
    Alberta estimates it deserves more than half of the national retirement plan, about $334 billion, while the CPP Investment Board has pegged it closer at about $100 billion.
  5. High School football takes place this weekend in the Peace Region. High Prairie is in Valleyview tonight for a 9-a-side senior game. Kickoff is 4:30 at St. Stephan’s School.
    Tomorrow, Sexsmith plays High Prairie in Peace River with the kickoff also at 4:30 at GlenMary School.
  6. NWJHL Pre-season action tonight… Dawson Creek is in Beaverlodge. The Regular season starts next week.
  7. AJHL tonight… The regular season starts with Whitecourt in Grande Prairie.
  8. Week 15 of the CFL season starts tonight with Toronto in BC. Ottawa is in Hamilton and Montreal is in Calgary tomorrow.
  9. The Toronto Blue Jays start a three-game weekend set at home to St. Louis tonight.
  10. A mix of Sun and Cloud is forecasted for this afternoon in the Northwest. Highs are leaning on 20 degrees, with lows tonight just above 5.
    Rain is expected in the Big Lakes tomorrow, but the sun will peek through the clouds in the Peace and Mackenzie.
