  1. Fairview Council is planning to meet with Health Minister Adriana LaGrange at the Alberta Municipalities convention.
    Topics of discussion will be doctor/nurse recruitment, hospital emergency room closures, and a new CT scanner for the hospital.
  2. Northern Sunrise County is joining the MD of Peace and other jurisdictions in the area wanting to meet with Provincial Transportation Minister Devin Dreeshen.
    The main topic of discussion is the completion of Highway 986 between Peerless/Trout and Fort McMurray.
  3. Alberta Agriculture is reporting that 55% of the crop has been harvested, which is between 20 and 30 percentage points ahead of the 5-year and 10-year averages.
    Individual crops are also ahead of pace with Dry Peas at 87%, Spring Wheat at 57%, Barley at 51% and Oats at 40% complete.
  4. Fall clean-up is continuing in the Peace Region… Today is the last day for Front Yard Put-and-Take. Curbside Clean-up Collection is happening tomorrow through Friday.
    Meanwhile, the MD of Peace and Northern Sunrise County conduct their Fall Clean-up later on in September.
  5. Big Lakes County’s Animal Care Facility is receiving help, thanks to a fundraiser.
    Nearly $1,500 in cash, plus food toys and pet supplies were donated at the Pound Partnership Fundraiser earlier this month.
  6. Jasper is ending its local state of emergency as it gets ready to welcome back visitors and tourists.
    The state of local emergency, issued at the end of July in response to a wildfire, will end on Sunday.
  7. Football Alberta has rankings out for the High School season this week. In 9-a-side, Valleyview is ranked #3, after a 33-20 win over High Prairie.
    Peace River is #4, after their game with Edson postponed. Peace River is in Whitecourt on Friday, and Valleyview is scheduled to play in Edson on Thursday.
  8. In Bantam, schedules are being re-worked after High Prairie folded this past weekend for this season. The Grande Prairie Norseman plays in Peace River on Saturday.
  9. The NFL Monday-nighter tonight is Atlanta in Philidelphia.
  10. Sunshine is scheduled for this week in the Northwest. Highs this afternoon are in the high teens to low 20’s, with lows tonight could produce some frost.
    Temperatures begin to cool down a little later this week.
