  1. Authorities in Big Lakes County are warning residents of Vandalism and break-in at the Landfill and Transfer Station.
    Specifically, garbage bags have been ripped open, and the possibility of identity theft has occured.
  2. Robert Willing and Sandra Eastman have been selected as Reeve and Deputy Reeve of the MD of Peace.
    Tyler Olsen and Bill Smith have been selected as Reeve and Deputy Reeve of the MD of Greenview.
  3. Small Business week is continuing in the Peace region. The Fairview Chamber of Commerce holds their Business Awards on Friday at the Dunvegan Inn and Suites.
    The Grimshaw Chamber of Commerce has just finished voting for their Business Awards. Winners are announced at their Christmas and Awards Gala.
    The Peace River Chamber’s Davis Business Award Nominations are now open. The Awards are handed out in January.
  4. The Royal Canadian Legions are setting up final preparations for Remembrance Day ceremonies. Memorial Banners are being hung from the light standards in various towns across the Northwest of Alberta.
    Schools in the area will also be holding Remembrance Day Ceremonies on Friday November 8th, which is also honoured as National Indigenous Veteran’s Day.
  5. Municipalities all around the Northwest are starting to ask people to Save the Date for Christmas.
    Festivities in Fairview are on Friday November 22nd. Celebrations are being marked in McLennan on Saturday November 30th.
    Light-ups and events are happening in High Prairie and Peace River on Friday November 29th.
  6. The Alberta Pharmacists’ Association says upcoming government cuts to service compensation fees will have a big impact on pharmacists and also patient care.
    The main cut is to the fee that pharmacists charge the government for an initial patient assessment for a comprehensive annual care plan.
  7. Premier Danielle Smith says the government will review professional regulatory bodies and introduce legislation next year to limit how they can police their own members.
    Associations and colleges set standards for their members, including doctors, lawyers, psychologists and engineers, and can discipline those who don’t meet those standards.
  8. Three Canadian teams are in action in the NHL tonight… Carolina is in Calgary, Winnipeg is in Seattle, and St. Louis is in Toronto.
  9. Week 8 of the NFL starts tonight with Minnisota in LA against the Rams.
  10. The Fall season continues weather-wise in the Northwest. Sunshine this afternoon, with the odd cloud thrown in.
    Highs are around 5 degrees, with lows tonight being around -5. Precipitation may hit the Peace and Mackenzie this weekend.
