  1. Council at Big Lakes County is lobbying the Provincial Government to approve land dispositions for a project near Swan Hills.
    Briefing documents from the County suggest municipal revenues could reach hundreds of millions of dollars over the project’s lifespan.
  2. The principle of Ecole Quatre-Vents in Peace River is also working provincially.
    Sarah Nickonchuk has been selected to serve on the Education Advisory Committee, by the Office of the Legislative Assembly.
  3. County of Northern Lights Council had a chance to speak at the Rural Municpalities of Alberta Fall Convention.
    Reeve Terry Ungarian brought forward concerns of accountability in Independant Police Services in the province.
    While Councillor Brent Reese added concerns of accountability for Engineering Firms operating in Rural Alberta.
  4. The transition period at St. Thomas More School in Fairview is continuing. Students in K-9 have begun moving into the new portables that are on the grounds.
    Officials are complementing the new look and resources that are being introduced.
  5. The 7th annual Greenview Charity Clay Shoot recently happened at the Shot Shell Shooting Range, south of Valleyview.
    Nearly $58,000 was raised for the five food banks in the MD, which includes Fox Creek, Valleyview, Debolt, Grande Prairie and Grande Cache.
  6. The Provincial Government has tabled legislation to replace its Freedom of Information and Privacy Act with two separate pieces of legislation.
    One would deal with protection and privacy and the other would address access to information.
    The province hopes by separating the act into two legislations, it will streamline the process.

    Highs this afternoon are in the mid to high single-digits, with lows tonight being around the zero-degree mark. Temps will be even warmer tomorrow, but then cool off at the beginning of next week.
