- Trial dates have been set in a murder case on the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation.
Mid to late January of 2026 are set for Vincent Nathan Campiou, who’s accused in the death of 59 year-old Patricia Campiou. - The Boil Water Advisory is continuing in the MD of Smoky River.
The Young’s Point Provincial Park beach area in Sturgeon Lake, has had its water advisory lifted. - High Level Mayor Crystal McAteer presented Captain Colin Moore with his five-year service award.
West Fraser also presented her Worship, and Fire Chief Rodney Schmidt with two new Thermal imaging cameras.
Administration is also starting plans to celebrate the Town`s 60th Anniversary in 2025. - Roads continue to not be in good shape, thanks to yesterday’s Freezing Rain.
Several events were cancelled, several school bus cancellations were made and may be in store today, and authorities were not recommending travel, unless absolutely necessary. - The US Postal Service has suspended accepting mail, destined for Canada because of the Canada Post Strike.
55,000 workers walked off the job back in mid-November, including at postal outlets in the Peace region. - Canada Post has removed the deadline for its Santa Claus letter program amid a national workers’ strike that has halted mail delivery leading up to the holiday season.
The postal service says while the initial deadline to mail a letter to Santa with the iconic H0H 0H0 postal code was Dec. 6, it has now removed the deadline from its website. - Tim’s Holiday Smile Cookie campaign took place with local charities benefitting from sales.
Local Charities taking proceeds were: Peace River: Peace Regional SPCA, Fairview: Fine Arts Centre, Valleyview: Food Bank, High Prairie: Children’s Resource Centre,
High Level: Northern Lights Regional Humane Society.
In total, $10.7 million dollars was raised Canada-wide. - The Peace River Pioneers 9-a-side High School Football team are continuing to be congratulated on winning the Provincial Championship.

Snow will also be falling tonight, but no less than 5 cm will hit the ground. You might see some ice pellets fall in the Peace tonight.
