- Proactive patrols in the Peace region by RCMP have landed two in custody on warrants, and parole violations.
A traffic stop near the Peace River Airport early Monday morning led to the arrests of 36 year-old Charlie Dawn Auger, and 42 year-old Carmen Rhoda Lamouche, both of Peace River. - The Provincial Government is investing $80 million dollars over the next three years into construction on the new maternity and Community Health Centre in La Crete.
The facility will include a birthing centre, midwifery program, advanced ambulatory care and a two-vehicle ambulance bay to improve emergency services. - The Village of Berwyn is clarifying concerns brought forward regarding water quality.
Administration is stating that testing is conducted weekly and samples are sent to the lab for analysis. - Pink Shirt Day is today, in support of anti-bullying initiatives. (Interviews of Kristin Dyck and Cheyenne Testowich in separate story)
- Infrastructure minister Peter Guthrie says his decision to resign stems from his concern for the government’s procurement practices in all departments, and the apparent lack of concern amongst his colleagues.
- According to the Alberta respiratory virus dashboard, there have been nearly 6,800 reported cases of influenza since Feb. 15. In 2024, there were more than 16,000 cases total.
- Michelle Trachtenberg, the actress of films like “Harriet the Spy” and went on to have memorable roles on TV shows including “Gossip Girl,” has died. She was 39.
