Local Student heads to France and Belguim to explore history

Local high school student Adelle Levesque has been selected to participate in the 2025 Vimy Pilgrimage Award Program. This prestigious educational program offers an immersive educational experience in Europe, where students will explore the history of the First World War through site visits, museum tours, and expert-led discussions.

Running from April 3 to 10, the program takes participants to key locations in France and Belgium, providing an in-depth perspective on both well-known and under-examined moments in history. Through this experience, students develop a deeper understanding of the past and its lasting impact.

Vimy Pilgrimage Award; Adelle Levesque from Falher, Alberta was selected to participate in the 2025 edition of the educational program.

The Vimy Foundation has announced the youth recipients who will participate in the 2025 Vimy Pilgrimage Award. This experiential program provides youth, ages 15 to 17 from across Canada the opportunity to explore historic sites and participate in the annual Vimy Pilgrimage which sees Canadians travel to France to pay their respects at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial

Adelle, a high school student from Falher, was chosen to participate in this prestigious educational program.

With the other students from across Canada, Adelle will travel across France and Belgium from April 3 to April 10. The 8-day program includes daily visits to important sites, museums, cemeteries and historic battlefields from the First World War, such as Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial and the In Flanders Field Museum. Students will immerse themselves in history and better understand the impact that continues to resonate today.

This experience will provide them with transferable skills and unique perspectives from the past, and will allow them to connect with peers, fellow leaders of tomorrow.
