  1. Police say the shots were discharged at a vehicle, after authorities learned a firearm was pointed at the victims, who knew the suspect.
    41 year-old Rodney Conrad Ominayak of Little Buffalo was arrest on warrants, plus the additional charges.
  2. People in Slave Lake are remaining on Evacuation Notice after a fire started by Lightning over the weekend.
    The Blaze is 20 km north of town, and measures just over 20 hectares in size. The town is on 8-hour notice, while area in the MD of Lesser Slave River is on 4-hour notice.
  3. At a recent meeting, Council of the MD of Greenview declared an Agricultural Disaster for the Livestock Industry.
    The announcement was made due to worsening drought conditions, persistant moisture shortages and severe grasshopper infestations. (Tyler Olsen Interview in separate story)
  4. A federal inmate has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of serial killer Robert Pickton last year.
    Martin Charest, 52, was charged on July 3 for allegedly attacking Pickton at Quebec’s Port-Cartier maximum security prison.
  5. Malcolm-Jamal Warner, an actor and artist who rose to fame as a child as Theodore Huxtable on “The Cosby Show,” has died, according to a source close to the actor.
    He was 54. Warner died in a drowning accident in Costa Rica, where he was on vacation with his family.
  6. Wheatbelt Baseball League tonight… Grande Prairie is in Rycroft, the Rage are up 2-0. First Pitch is 7:15 at JD Park. The winner of the series plays Peace River in the Final.
  7. The Toronto Blue Jays play the second of a three-game set against the Yankees tonight at Roger’s Center. Max Scherzer starts for the Jays against Cam Schlittler.
  8. The Toronto Raptors will be holding their training camp at the University of Calgary, the first time in franchise history the team will hold camp in Alberta.
    Toronto will open pre-season action against Canadian Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets on Oct. 6 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
  9. Lots of sunshine is in the works for the Northwest this afternoon. Highs are in the low 20’s. Lows tonight will be comfortable under the stars, in the upper single-digits.
    There is a possibility that Thursday might be wet.
