- Investigations and repair-work are underway after a break, enter and theft at Burnsie’s Sports Excellence in downtown Peace River during the long weekend.
General Manager Mitchell Cook says many items were lifted, including bikes, bats and various products to conceal the suspects’ faces. - Fires in Northwestern Alberta are being brought under control, but conditions are starting to get dry and flammable again, as summer winds down.
Fire Hazards in the Forest Areas are very high to extreme, and are prompting fire advisories to be put in place. - The Dene Tha First nation has a new councilor-elect.
In a close vote, Robert Tsonchoke won the seat, defeating Terriann Didzena, Andrea Godin, and Leonard Didzena by ballot. - The Northern Alberta Development Council has submitted a report to the Provincial Government, highlighting its role as an economic engine in Canada.
Topics like natural resources, agriculture, tourism and recreation, nuclear energy development and future opportunities for the Council, were discussed. - Various jurisdictions in the Peace Region, are planning their Fall Clean-up schedules, which are happening this month.
Of note, Fall Clean-up in Northern Sunrise County is happening for two weeks, starting September 22 at the East Peace Regional Landfill. - Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says the government is rewriting a ministerial order directing school divisions to ban books containing sexually explicit content to ensure classic books stay on library shelves.

The North Peace Navigators play 3 games this weekend, the Fairviw Flyers play 1, the La Crete Lumber Barons have training camp. The regular season starts next weekend. - In baseball… The Toronto Blue Jays play the rubber match of their three-game set in Cincinnati tonight. Shane Bieber starts for the Jays against Zack Littell.

Highs this afternoon are in the low to mid 20’s, with lows being just below 10, except for just 5 in the Mackenzie.
The Peace and Big Lakes could see some showers during the weekend.
