Local Tim Hortons owner Gord Drummond is taking on a challenging journey supporting a cause close to his heart.
From September 19 to 25, Drummond will hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru as part of the “Climb for the Camps” initiative, aiming to raise funds and awareness for the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.
Drummond, who operates Tim Hortons in Peace River, High Prairie, Fairview, and Valleyview, has a longstanding commitment to the Foundation.
His family has actively supported the organization, with his eldest daughter serving as a camp counselor and his wife currently holding a position on the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
Reflecting on this endeavor, Drummond stated he’s “stepping out of his comfort zone” to champion a cause that has profoundly impacted his family.
To date, Drummond has raised over $8,000 for the cause.
This effort aligns with the broader mission of the Tim Hortons Foundation Camps, which, through initiatives like Camp Day, have raised over $275 million, supporting more than 325,000 underserved youth in building confidence and resilience.
The “Climb for the Camps” event is one of several fundraising activities organized by the Foundation, with participants undertaking significant challenges to support youth development programs.
As Drummond prepares for this trek, the community’s support underscores the collective commitment to empowering young people through transformative camp experiences.
