The Valleyview and District Agricultural Society has been presented with $1 million in provincial funding toward construction of the new Greenview Regional AgriPlex in Valleyview.
The funding was presented on-site last Friday, January 9 by Central Peace–Notley MLA Todd Loewen, joined by Greenview Reeve Ryan Ratzlaff, Councillor Darren Soderquist, and Councillor James Vander Leest. The funding is being delivered through the Alberta Government’s Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) large stream.
The Municipal District of Greenview has also made a significant commitment to the project. In 2024, Greenview Council authorized administration to enter into a $4 million agreement with the Valleyview Agricultural Society to support construction of the facility, in addition to contributing $500,000 toward the matching funds required for the CFEP grant.
With construction well underway, representatives say the project is quickly moving from vision to reality. The Greenview Regional AgriPlex is expected to serve as a multi-use hub for a wide range of events, competitions, and educational opportunities for all ages; youth to senior.
MLA Loewen praised the collaboration between the province, the MD of Greenview, and the Valleyview and District Agricultural Society, calling the project an investment in rural Alberta and its future.
Once complete, the Greenview Regional AgriPlex is expected to play a key role in supporting agriculture, community connection, and long-term regional growth.
