According to Alberta Agriculture & Forestry (AF), it’s due to a significant amount of unseeded acres this spring.
Doctor Ross McKenzie, an Agronomy Research Scientist from AF, said in a publication that there are a number of specific management practices that must be followed when planting winter cereal crops, with winter wheat in particular.
They include selecting the best varieties for your local area. Also included is the seeding date, the rate and depth, the proper fertilizers that need to be used, the amounts, as well as the time of application, as well as weed control.
Doctor McKenzie says that by following simple, straightforward management practices, winter wheat can be an easy and very profitable crop to grow.
