
A man from High Prairie is in custody as High Prairie RCMP investigate a murder on the Sucker Creek First Nation.
Officers from the RCMP and the Lakeshore Regional Police Service responded to a report of an assault with a weapon at a residence on November 19.
Emergency services arrived on scene and found a 35-year-old male deceased.
The initial investigation determined the circumstances surrounding the death appeared to be suspicious in nature.
Authorities say subsequently, 40-year-old Travis Melnyk is facing charges of first degree murder, and forcible confinement.
He’ll make a court appearance in High Prairie today.
