The disease was first discovered in a canola field near Edmonton in 2003. Since then, it has spread to a number of nearby Alberta counties.

In 2017, the first ever case was discovered in the Peace Country. It was found in a field at Big Lakes County back in August.

According to the Alberta Canola Producers Commission, the hardest hit areas appear to be in the Edmonton region, where various counties have reported more than 50 of their fields to be infected with the disease.

As well, various counties and municipal districts have also seen at least a minor infection throughout central Alberta.

The ACP continues to work with the Canola Council of Canada to reinforce grower awareness of Clubroot management, including crop rotations and equipment sanitation.
