A trial date has been finalized in a high-profile case in High Prairie.
The case against Kyra Renee Backs will begin on January 6th in Peace River and last for two and a half weeks.
Backs is accused in the death of seven-month old Oaklan Cunningham in October of 2022.
At the time of the infant’s death, Backs was the operator of a day-home.

One of two men accused in the Grouard church fire last May, has pled guilty.
Kenneth Fergusion made the plea to charges of Break and enter to commit theft.
He and Gerald Capot were arrested after the blaze to the 102 year-old church, that caused significant damage.
Fergusion was given 90 days, time served and one year probation.
Capot is back in court in late August.
